Hrm.

Equipment:
Deman Brush
Widetoothed Comb
Rattail Comb
Spritzer Bottle
Couple of hair ties
Couple of bobbypins
do-rag

Products:
Kiya Pudding (Oyin whipped pudding, glycerin, conditioner)
Elasta QP Intense Fortifiying Conditioner
Sprizter - water, glycerin, tea tree oil, amla oil, conditioner
AfroDetangler
Amla Oil
SAF Herb Mix (shikaika, amla, fo-ti, mixed in equal amounts)

BRAIDS!!

I travel a lot for work and don't like to lug around all my hair products. So I try to wear braids/weaves and carry only one moisturizer because of the liquid restrictions in hand luggage when flying.

If I'm wearing my own hair, I'm usually going home each weekend to spend half of my Saturday washing, rollersetting, etc...

I am taking this weave out next week and will try wearing my own hair and bringing ONE conditioner, one moisturiser and one little container of oil so that I can co-wash when I go to the gym then do a braid out or something and save the shampoo for when I get back home at weekends.

I'd leave the stinky stuff at home (no amla/ghee).

I'd bring the following:
silk scarf
comb
brush
coconut oil
conditioner
palm red butter or some other type of moisturizer
soft ponytail holders
gel

I wouldn't need many styling tools since I wear my hair in a bun everyday.

i pack my oils in my 3oz or less baggie and everything else is in laminated toiletrie cases that i wrap in saran wrap and then put in my checked baggage that way in case anything goes wrong i have an extra layer.

this is a really good thread im trying to prioritize hair products for my upcomming trip and im having a hard time i want to bring EVERYTHING!

I do a lot of traveling with my job. So, i do take everything and put it all in the baggage that needs to be checked in. The only thing that i do not bring is my hooded hair dryer. I just let my hair air dry in a nice wet bun for that day before heading home from my business trip. Once i return home i pick up where i left off with my hair.

Even better you check it in inside of your luggage....The TSA rules for liquids and lotions are for your carry ons...

I like to keep my toiletries with me, in case my luggage gets lost at least I'll have that stuff with me.

I don't go on business trips just leisure

I feel you but u can only take so many ounces on the plane now...My husband and I go on weeks trips and that wouldn't be enough...I do keep medications in my carry on just for that reason...We went to Hawaii last summer for a week and I washed my hair every day we were they're because I stayed in the Ocean...I think it depends on the length of your trip..But, I'm good for over packing

Olive oil
nice smelling oil
Wide tooth comb
satin triangle scarf
rollers
hair bun
pomade or castor oil for smoothing edges (if I was wearing it up)
Satin pillowcase

This is good cuz I'm going away for a long weekend in April and I need to know what to pack so I won't take the whole BSS...LOL

I just went through this for a work trip. I am trying to wash twice a week (at least 1 rollerset) but for work trips I wash at home before & after the trip.

items I took:
hair clips & hair sticks (decorative chop sticks)
satin bonnet
VICL
coconut oil

I pin curl set at night and sleep in my bonnet then take out the clips and pin up my hair for the day with hair sticks.

I love buns. All I would need is some:

  • conditioner (suave or vo5)
  • good days hair pins
  • scrunci or elastic band
  • activator gel
  • Shower Comb
  • Scarf

Very easy. Buns are king!

You can get these kits from the Container Store, Linens-n-Things or Bed Bath and Beyond, that are TSA approved, come in a ziplock bag and are spill proof:

Lol, I'm a FA so I guess I should have worded the question differently! if you had to go away for a long business trip (18)

What I meant to ask was, those of you with like 15 products how are you getting them through? The TSA 311 rule only allows one baggie. I usually always wear my uniform even when I'm not working just so I can bypass that rule because I've had some spillage issues in checked luggage in the past.
